C T Online Desk: Chittagong City Mayor Bir Muktijoddha Rezaul Karim Chowdhury and the Chattogram Port chairman Rear Admiral Md. Sohail expressed commitment to work together for the development of the port city.
On Wednesday in a courtesy meeting at the City Corporation office at Tigerpass, the mayor said that the water flow of the Karnaphuli river should be sustained for Chittagong port to run smoothly.
CCC has decided to crack down on polythene, which has become a serious threat to Karnaphuli. Mayor said that if the abandoned land of the port is given to CCC , that land will be beautified.
Chittagong Port Authority Chairman Rear Admiral Mohammad Sohail said that the port is an important source of national income of Bangladesh. Due to the extensive development of the infrastructure sector in Chittagong, the income of the port will soon increase manifold.
CCC Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Muhammad Tauhidul Islam, Panel Mayor Afroza Kalam, Chittagong Port Authority Secretary Omar Farooq, Councilor Abdul Mannan, Secretary Khaled Mahmud, Chief Engineer Rafiqul Islam, Chief Accounting Officer Humayun Kabir Chowdhury and others were present in the meeting.
