C T Online Desk: Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Dr. Md. Aminur Rahman commented that if socio-economic empowerment can be done, violence against women will be reduced.
He made this comment at the training workshop on ‘Health sector response to gender-based violence’ in the conference room of the Divisional Health Director’s office on Tuesday (May 2). Wednesday (May 3) was the last day of the 2-day training workshop.
Speaking as the chief guest at the workshop, Chittagong Divisional Commissioner said that sexual harassment is an unforgivable crime. Sexual harassment and gender-based violence threaten the lives of every person in society and are extreme forms of human rights violations. Bangladesh has taken many initiatives to prevent gender-based violence. It is not possible for government and private institutions alone to strengthen this resistance movement. In this case, people from all walks of life should be involved.
