C T Online Desk: The 114th phase of the traditional Jabbarer balikhela (Jabbar’s wrestling) held at Laldighi Maidan in the city yesterday at 4 pm. Police Commissioner Krishna Pad Roy inaugurates the event at 3:30 pm.
City Mayor Bir Muktijoddha Rezaul Karim Chowdhury was the chief guest.Chowdhury Farid, Vice President of Balikhela Celebration Committee, told the media that the wrestling Game registration starts from 11:00 AM yesterday at the City Corporation Library.He said that all the preparations for the Balikhela have been completed.CMP Commissioner formally inaugurate this competition at noon. CCC Mayor was the chief guest.A folk fair has been organized around Balikhela.
Meanwhile, Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) has strengthened security in Laldighi and surrounding areas around Jabbar Bali Khela and Baisakhi Mela areas.. In addition to regular patrolling, more than two hundred additional police have been deployed at seven points in and around Laldighi. Besides, there are white-clothed police and detectives.
