C T Online Desk: Editors Guild Bangladesh has said that a controversial Prothom Alo report published on Independence Day is tantamount to undermining the independence of the country.
The comment was made in a statement signed by the organization’s President Mozammel Babu and General Secretary Inam Ahmed on Friday.
Criticizing Prothom Alo’s report pubished on March 26, the statement said that it is part of a series of attempts to implement an agenda in the name of journalism. Dissemination of fabricated and purposeful news is not journalism, it is non-journalistic behaviour. Editors Guild Bangladesh strongly condemns such news, the statement said.
No one is above the law, the statement said.
However, if anyone is aggrieved by any report published in the mainstream media, the guild calls for the opinion of the Press Council before a case being filed.
