C T Online Desk: On the occasion of Holy Ramadan, around five thousand poor families received food assistance in Rupganj Upazila of Narayanganj from Bashundhara Group and Rongdhanu Group.
Chairman of Rongdhanu Group Alhaj Rafiqul Islam distributed the foodstuff at the group’s temporary office in Naora area of Kayetpara Union of the Upazila on Friday.
He said, “Food assistance will be continued from Bashundhara Group and Rongdhanu Group throughout the month of Ramadan. In Rupganj upazila, food assistance to 25,000 families in different wards of seven unions and two municipalities will continue till 10th Ramadan in the first phase. Today, 5,000 families have got the food assistance. After the food assistance to 25 thousand families is completed, the next phase will comprise food items and clothes both.”
He said, “Bashundhara Group and Rongdhanu Group have been helping the unemployed, poor and helpless people with food items, clothes and money throughout the year apart from the holy month of Ramadan.”
Among others, Narayanganj District Awami League Senior Vice President Khandaker Abul Bashar Tuku, Rongdhanu Group Director and former District Council member Mizanur Rahman Mizan, Union Awami League Senior Vice President and freedom fighter Shamsul Alam, Kayetpara Union Awami League General Secretary Advocate Abdul Awal, Upazila Awami League Member Karim Pathan, Kayetpara Union Awami League Vice President Alauddin, Organising Secretaries Ali Azgar Bhuiyan and Altaf Hossain, Kayetpara Union Awami Volunteers League Former President Mohiuddin Member, Jubo League General Secretary Billal Hossain, Union Law Affairs Secretary Advocate Jatindra Babu, Awami League member Shamser Ali, Amin Hossain, Union Awami League office secretary Mujibur Rahman, Jubo League leader Billal Hossain, Kamal Hossain, Md Jalil Bhuiyan, Shawkat Ali Imon, former UP member Noor Mohammad, were present during the distribution of food items.
