C T Online Desk: Chattogram WASA has sought the cooperation of the city dwellers in the implementation of the ongoing project of sewerage system.Wasa MD engineer AKM Fazlullah sought this cooperation in the exchange of views on the launch of Chittagong Wasar sewerage service organized at Radisson Blu on Tuesday (March 14) evening. He said that to implement any project, common citizens have to suffer. Still we will try to reduce public suffering.

If this project is implemented, the city residents will get sewage treatment facilities. Besides, the environment will be fine and water pollution will be reduced. I request everyone’s cooperation so that I can implement this project within the stipulated time.Chittagong City Corporation Mayor Bir Muktijoddha M Rezaul Karim Chowdhury was the chief guest and Daily Azadi editor MA Malek was the guest of honor.

Mayor M Rezaul Karim Chowdhury said in the chief guest’s speech that in the first phase, two million people in the city will enjoy the benefits of Chittagong WASA sewerage system. Which will gradually increase. But to implement this project, WASA should aim to ensure that the common people do not suffer. Because if there is a pothole somewhere on the road, fingers go up to Chosik. Therefore, I am calling to conduct the work of the project in a planned manner.

He also said that instead of starting work in all the wards at once, if one ward works step by step, people’s suffering will be reduced. Besides, if the pipeline can be laid by boring without cutting the entire road, people will get more relief.

Meanwhile, the Mayor requested WASA to look into solving the problem of drinking water in the city. The guest of honor of the program MA Malek emphasized on the conservation of rain water during the monsoon season. He said, we do not start or finish any project. I hope Chittagong WASA will complete this project successfully. But we have to aim to build a healthy city, not only WASA, but also ordinary citizens should come forward.
