AL lawmaker Moslem Uddin Ahmed passes away

C T Online Desk: Ruling Awami League lawmaker and Chattogram south district unit AL president Moslem Uddin Ahmed passed away at a private hospital in Dhaka on early Monday. He was 74.

Awami League’s relief and social welfare affairs secretary Aminul Islam told New Age that Moslem Uddin Ahmed breathed his last due to cancer at about 12:40am on Monday at the Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.

 

His first namaz-e-janaza will be held on Awami League central office premises at Bangabandhu Avenue at 11:00am on Monday, Biplob Barua, office secretary of Awami League, said.

His second namaz-e-janaza will be held on Gomdandia Pilot High School premises in Chattogram after Asr prayers on Monday and third namaz-e-janaza will be held on Jamiatul Falah Mosque on Tuesday 11:00am, he said.

Moslem Uddin Ahmed was elected as a member of parliament from Chattogram-8 (Boalkhali-Chandgoan-Panchlaish) constituency as an Awami League nominated candidate in the vacant seat on January 13, 2020.

The parliamentary seat  fell vacant after the death of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal leader Moinuddin Khan Badal .

In a condolence message, Jatiya Sangsad speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Moslem Uddin Ahmed.
