C T Online Desk: A group of contractors allegedly assaulted a project director (PD) of a Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) project for not awarding project work at the CCC Office on Sunday afternoon.
The attackers also ransacked the office of the PD Md Golam Yajdani, an executive engineer of the Local Government Engineering Department, and damaged his name plaque.
The Local Government Department appointed him for the around Tk 2,500 crore project taken for development of different roads including Airport Road and important infrastructure under the CCC on August 14 last year.
The PD told the reporters that some 20 and 25 contractors entered his room around 3:45pm and they attacked him at one stage.
As his office assistant Tilok Dey tried to resist them, they also attacked him before leaving the spot, he said.
Golam also alleged that the contractors made the attack for not getting project work.
Officer in-Charge (OC) Santosh Chakma of Khulshi police station said police started investigation in this connection and legal action will be taken against the attackers.
