20-bed prison cell launches in CMCH

C T Online Desk: Finally, a 20-bed prison cell has been set up in a separate unit at Chittagong Medical College (CMC) Hospital. The prison cell has been set up on the second floor of the hospital in the place of the model family-planning clinic next to the old administrative block. The cell was officially launched last Tuesday. CMC Hospital Director Brigadier General. Shamim Ahsan inaugurated the cell. At the time of the Chittagong prison district SuperĀ  . Tariqul Islam and other officials of the jail and hospital were present on the occasion.

CMC Hospital Director Brigadier General Md. Shamim Ahsan said with the launch of the prison cell, the door has been opened to provide medical services to the imprisoned patients in a separate place. The director of the hospital also said that at present 6 imprisoned patients are undergoing treatment in this prison cell.

According to hospital sources, the prison cell has 20 beds. Of these, 18 beds are reserved for men and the remaining four beds are reserved for women prisoners. From now on, if any prisoner of a sick or seriously ill prisoner is brought to the hospital, he will be admitted to this prison cell and will be given separate medical services.
