6 board members of CDA selected

C T Online Desk: Six board members of Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) have been selected  for three years, including two former ones. The appointment was made through a notification issued by the Administration Branch-6 of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works to perform its duties from February 3 this year to February 2, 2025. A circular signed by Deputy Secretary Lutfun Nahar on Thursday (February 3) said the government had appointed the following six persons as members of the Chittagong Development Authority for three years under sections 8 (1) (d) and 5 (2) of the Chittagong Development Authority Act 2017. The appointed board members are Jasim Uddin Shah and Ashiq Imran, two former CDA board members. The four new members are: former Rangunia Upazila Chairman and North District Awami League member  Ali  Shah, former member of Central BCL and former convener of South District BCL Md. Farooq, former member of South District BCL and former joint convener of Banshkhali Upazila BCL Engineer Munir Uddin Ahmed and female member Suchinta Foundation Chittagong Coordinator Jinnat Sohana Chowdhury. Among the six former board members Md. Jasim Uddin, Md. Jasim Uddin Shah, KBM Shahjahan, architect Ashiq Imran, MR Azim, Rumana Nasreen. Jasim Uddin Shah and architect Ashiq Imran have been re-appointed as board members. According to CDA sources, the term of 6 board members of CDA expired on October 30. As a result, the CDA has not been able to hold a board meeting for more than three months. A number of important CDA decisions and files are pending, subject to approval of the board meeting, including project design changes, land acquisition of  land  issues., a CDA  sources said.
