C T Online Desk: Chittagong Port is becoming the center of interest of foreign investors. A number of world-renowned port management companies have offered to operate the PCT and Bay-Terminal of Chittagong Port and to share the development activities of Matarbari Deep seaport in CoxsBazar district.
Some organizations are also conducting political and diplomatic activities on the matter.
The matter is being handled very cautiously from the top level of the government. Sources said Bangladesh is very important to many influential countries of the world for geographical and commercial reasons. Governments of many countries and various foreign organizations have great interest in Chittagong port. In addition to the countries interested only for business, some countries also want to come here for geographical reasons.
However, expert sources also commented that most of the countries want to invest in Chittagong Port to share in the growing maritime trade of the region. The construction work of Patenga Container Terminal (PCT) of Chittagong Port has already been completed. The terminal can be fully operational by installing the equipment. And the construction of Matarbari Deep Sea port under going in full swing, a port users sources said.
