And as the communication skills of the students will increase through English class, research practice will also increase among them. Deputy Minister of Education Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury NaWfel said this at the opening ceremony of the first inter-school English world debate competition organized by Bangladesh Television Chittagong Center.
In the drama studio of Bangladesh Television Chittagong Center, Bangladesh Television Deputy Director General (Message) Anup Kumar Khastgir presided over the event as the special guest was former Ambassador of Myanmar Major (Retd.) Emdadul Islam, Professor of Genetic Engineering Department of Chittagong University Adnan Mannan. Bangladesh Television Chittagong Center General Manager Mahfuza Akhtar delivered the welcome address on the occasion.
The chief guest also said that such debate competition will be helpful in the academic life of the students. He praised the organizers for organizing such English debate competition at the national level from Chittagong.
Other speakers said that although Bengali debate competitions are usually held at the national level, English debates are very rare. Speakers believe that this will increase students’ linguistic and communication skills. 64 schools across the country including Chittagong are participating in this English debate competition.
