C T Online Desk: Dric Picture Library Ltd has organized a contest for Bangladeshi photojournalists for the first time in the country’s history.
The event, titled “Bangladesh Press Photo Contest 2022”, will recognize the brave men and women who are frontline warriors in gathering news, said a press release.
Any Bangladeshi photojournalist can take part in this competition.After checking and sorting the pictures taken last year, the award will be given.
The judges of this competition will be five eminent photographers who are well known and admired in the domestic and foreign arenas.
They are Abir Abdullah, photographer and editor of Educator; Sana Ullah, photographer, editor and mentor of National Geographic Society, Shafiqul Alam, bureau chief, AFP, Shahidul Alam, photographer, activist and curator of Drik; and Syed Zakir Hossain, chief photographer of Dhaka Tribune.
The organizers plan to hold an exhibition in Dhaka in February with 30 selected pictures. Virtual versions will also be able to deliver images on a large scale.
Photographers will be able to submit photos in three categories. They are Public Interest Journalism, Politics, Arts, Culture and Sports.
Participants can submit photos in all three categories if they wish. However, no more than five pictures can be given in any category.
In this competition, the photographer selected for “Photo of the Year” will get Tk1 lakh as a prize.
In addition, the winners of the five categories will get a prize of Tk50,000 and a crest, certificate and yearbook.
The last date for submission of photos is February 4.
