C T Online Desk: Former president of South District BNP and former minister Zafrul Islam Chowdhury has been bid farewell to people from all walks of life. Hundreds of ordinary people including leaders of Awami League, BNP and Jatiya Party participated in the namaz-e-janaza.
The first round of namaz-e-janaza was held at Jamiatul Falah National Mosque Maidan in the city on Wednesday (July 9) at 10 am. Khatib Hafez Maulana Ahmadul Haque of Jamiatul Falah National Mosque presided over it.
BNP National Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Chittagong Metropolitan Awami League General Secretary and former Chittagong City Corporation Mayor AJM Nashir Uddin, Railway Ministry Parliamentary Standing Committee President ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury, Member of Parliament MA Latif, Md. Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, Mostafizur Rahman Chowdhury, Chittagong Divisional Organizing Secretary of BNP National Executive Committee Mahbuber Rahman Shamim, Chittagong Metropolitan BNP Convener Dr. Shahadat Hossain, Member Secretary Abul Hashem Bakkar and Chittagong South District BNP convener Abu Sufian, Karnaphuli Upazila BNP convener SM Mamun Mia etc. participated.
Apart from this, BNP, Youth Dal, Swachhasevak Dal, Chhatra Dal leaders and activists of various levels, chairman of various Union Parishads and people of various classes and professions participated in the funeral. Later, BNP, Youth Dal, Swachhasevak Dal, Chhatra Dal and various other organizations paid their last respects to the BNP leader with flowers.
