PBI Police Super’s case against 4 including ex-SP Babul Akhtar

C T Online Desk: A case has been filed against 4 people including former police superintendent Babul Akhtar, expatriate journalist  YuTube Ilyas in the wife murder case.

Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Chittagong Metro Superintendent of Police Naima Sultana filed the case under Digital Security Act and Special Powers Act at Khulshi police station of the city on Monday (October 17) night.

The other defendants in the case are Babul Akhter’s brother Md. Abdul Ayadud Mia, father  Habibur Rahman Labu and Babul Akhtar.

Santosh Kumar Chakma, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khulshi Police Station, confirmed the case to media.

It has been said in the complaint that Babul Akhtar and other accused are conspiring to divert the investigation of Mahmuda Khanam Mitu’s murder case. As a part of this, a documentary video is being circulated on Facebook and YuTube with the title ‘Stri Khun Husband Jail , Khuni Paayi Tadanta ‘ by giving false and baseless information to Ilyas Hossain. Through the statement in the video, there is an attempt to damage the image of the state and India’s friendly relations with Bangladesh.

Earlier, Babul Akhtar filed a case against 6 police officers including Banaj Kumar Majumder alleging torture in PBI custody. He made this application on September 8, alleging torture in custody to extract confession. On September 11, Babul applied for safety in Feni prison in the same court. On September 25, Babul Akhter’s case was dismissed by the Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court of ChittagongEarlier, PBI chief Banaj Kumar Majumdar also filed a case against the four.
