C T Online Desk: Sheikh Russell Mini Stadium started its journey on the birthday of Bangabandhu’s youngest son, Sheikh Russell, on the initiative of former mayor of Chittagong City Corporation, M. Manjur Alam, in the beautiful natural environment of Uttar Kattali.
The stadium, funded by Hosne Ara Manzur Welfare Trust, was inaugurated at 10 am on Tuesday (October 18). Bangladesh Cricket Board Director, Chittagong District Sports Association General Secretary and City Awami League General Secretary AJM Nashir Uddin were the chief guests in the inauguration ceremony of Sheikh Russell Mini Stadium under the chairmanship of former Mayor M Manjur Alam. Didarul Alam, Member of Parliament for Sitakunda Constituency, distributed the prizes to the winners of the sports competition after the inauguration of the stadium.
Mohammad Saiful Alam, Director of Mostafa Hakim Group and Hosne Ara Manzoor Welfare Trust, Nabid Abdullah Manzoor Alam, President of Amara Rasel Smriti Parishad and Manzoor Alam’s son-in-law were the special guests. The chief guest said that it is good news for sportsmen that another stadium has been built in Chittagong. We are very happy.
Through this, more players will be created from Chittagong. We thank former Mayor Manjur Alam from Chittagong Sports Association for building this stadium in the name of Sheikh Russell. My sincerity will continue with overall suggestions to make the stadium more modernized and up-to-date.
