Two roads further widened: Bangabandhu Tunnel- Importance of port center boosting

C T Online Desk: Due to locational reasons, the area near the Bangabandhu Tunnel is increasing in importance as a port center. The Roads and Highways Department has taken initiatives to modernize the road connectivity of this area, which has already become important for KEPZ, Kafco and CUFL.

The main road of Bangabandhu Tunnel passes through the port center and connects with the 6-lane link road. When the tunnel opens, the center area will be the first junction of the Anwara end. Shah Amanat International Airport can be reached in just 10 minutes from here. Adjacent to the port center is the large industrial area of the Korean EPZ. 30 thousand workers work here. Nearby is Kafco housing for more than 300 employees of the multinational company Kafco.

Half a kilometer away is the residential area of 800 officials of CUFL and another residential area of hundreds of flats of DAP fertilizer factory. Apart from this, the center is the main turning point for traveling to the tourist center Parki Saikat, Marine Academy and Shah Mohsen Aulia Shrine. Special plans have been made around the port center to modernize the trade and communication system. Roads and Highways Department sources said that the CUFL road up to Chatri Chaumuhani will be 34 feet wide.

Although it is owned by CUFL, considering the importance, the road department has plans to widen the road from Chaturi to Center via Badalpura to Moizartek. Besides, the road from the center to Mohchen Auliya will also be 18 feet wide. At present, if this 12 feet wide road is made into two lanes, the traffic congestion will be reduced to a large extent, the concerned people think.
