Brick kiln adjoining Halda bank to cause bio-diversity: Violation of Bangabandhu Fish Heritage terms  in Halda

A  brick kiln adjoining the Halda river bank in Raozan grown up showing the  elder finger to the only  fish breeding centre , now named Bangabandhu Fish Heritage  of the country. Halda is the lone fish breeding centre of Bangladesh . Lack of  monitoring the illegal  location of  brick kilns on the banks of halda , the unscrupulous  businessmen  are occupying the river bank aimed at anti-diversity based installations . As a result the terms and conditions of the Bangabandhu Heritage turns  ineffective. After assessing the  areas adjoining Halda river bank at Mokamipara of Noapara union of Raozan upazila ,  a large brick Kiln named A.Ali Bricks  doing random business by producing bricks  destroying the bio-diversity and environment. Mentionable that during the joint  operation of district and upazila  administration evicted this brick kiln  on March 10 last year but after a fortnight, the owner reinstalled that brick kiln showing  father finger to the administration which is violation of Section 8 of Brick Kiln Act-2013. Due to firing of bricks by wood and coal and indiscriminate movement  of  dredger in river bed for  clays  , the river water being polluted  causing biodiversity  which is repugnant to law. While contacted  an official   of Department of Environment  told this correspondent that  the evicted brick kiln can not be  operative in same  place and location and we will  investigate the matter after getting  any complaints  from the locality. UNO of Raozan Abdus Samad Sikder told that  they will enquire the matter immediately and  no installations  will be allowed on Halda river bank which may cause environment pollution and  bio-diversity.
