C T Online Desk: Oct 10, 2022- Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque today said Bangladesh has become successful in dealing with Corona pandemic under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“The health department has advanced a long way under her leadership and Bangladesh has also attained dynamism for the successful dealing with Corona,” he added.
Zahid Maleque said while inaugurating the new building at Chattogram Divisional Health Director’s office.
Mentioning that primary health care journey started with field level community clinics, the health minister said the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization awarded Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as the title of Vaccine Hero for the successful completion of the vaccine programme.
Zahid Maleque said that about 98 percent of people above the age of 12 years in the country have taken the Corona vaccine.
“People of the world know that Corona is under control in Bangladesh. So, different countries are interested in taking workers from Bangladesh. It has been possible to deal with Corona due to the joint efforts of all.” he said.
Zahid Maleque said “We have started the process of setting up new hospitals in every division across the country”.
“The work of one has also started in Chattogram division where cancer patients, kidney and heart disease patients will be treated.
A unit of burn institute is being set up in Chattogram. But our challenge is to ensure optimal use of them,” the minister said.
The Health Minister said around 12,000 doctors and 20,000 nurses have been appointed in the last three years to ensure health care for all.
Earlier, the minister inaugurated the mural of Bangabandhu before unveiling the plaque of the newly constructed building and later visited the Bangabandhu Corner there.
Chattogram Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Sakhawat Ullah presided over the function while Director General of the Department of Health, Professor Dr Abul Basar Mohammad Khurshid Alam, Additional Secretary (Administration and Division) of Health Services Department Md Saidur Rahman, Additional Secretary of Health Services Department (Administration and Division) Syed Mojibul Haque, Director General of Health Education Directorate Professor Dr. AKM Amirul Morshed, Additional Director General (Administration) of the Directorate of Health Professor Dr Ahmedul Kabir and Director of Health Directorate (Administration) Professor Dr. Md. Samiul Islam, among others, spoke on the occasion.
