C T Online Desk: A delegation led by Managing Director of Chittagong Drydock Ltd Commodore M Maqsood Alam paid a courtesy call with Chittagong City Corporation Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury.
During a meeting at the mayor’s office at the temporary Nagar Bhaban in Tiger Pass on Sunday, he said Chittagong is the hub of the country’s economic development. In the development of Chittagong, the present government is implementing various development projects including construction of tunnel under Karnafuli river, construction of railway line from Chittagong to Cox’s bazar, Matarabari power project, construction of Maheshkhali deep sea port, construction of flyover, setting up of IT park which no previous government has done. Therefore, besides the development of greater Chittagong, CCC has adopted a plan for the development of the city.
He said that due to the increase in traffic in the city, the city dwellers are suffering a lot. The number of people killed and injured in road accidents is also increasing day by day. So CCC has decided to build a footover bridge by identifying 38 spots in the city.
In the light of this statement of the mayor, Commodore M Maksud Alam said that Chittagong Drydock is interested to be a partner in the development work of CCC. He mentioned the construction of 38 footover bridges adopted by CCC and construction of garbage containers for storage of garbage, adding that Chittagong Drydock is currently supplying garbage containers to Sylhet City Corporation. So CCC wanted to take part in the construction and beautification of the adopted footover bridge and to supply CCC with similar containers of garbage containers supplied to Sylhet City Corporation. The mayor advised Drydock to send a proposal in the form of a report to the manager.At this time Chittagong Drydock Ltd. Captain Hamid and CCC Chief Engineer Rafiqul Islam Manik were present.
