He used to come and go on this route about 4 to 5 times a day. Staying in touch with people all the time. But neither of them has taken the corona vaccine yet. As a result, the risk of self-infection as well as the risk of passengers is increasing.
Asked why he had not been vaccinated, Ali Ullah said, “I stay in the car all day.” Night on the way back home. Where is the opportunity to get vaccinated if you are always in the transport?
Not only Ali Ullah-Karim, most of the public transport workers plying in the city are out of Corona Ticker. As a result, even though there are instructions to drive with a ticker certificate, there are still questions about its implementation.
According to the Chittagong Regional Branch of the Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation, there are about 27 organizations, large and small, in the Chittagong metropolis under the Sramik Federation. These include truck lorries, dump trucks, human haulers, autorickshaw-autotempu, bus-minibus workers’ organizations. The number of registered members under these organizations is 75 thousand. Of these, only 20 per cent of the workers were vaccinated under the corona vaccine but only 60 per cent could not be vaccinated.
Federation President Abu Musa said, “After receiving instructions from the government, I have contacted various organizations on my own initiative.” According to them, only 18 to 20 percent of workers have been vaccinated. The health department has to take action to bring the transport workers under vaccination.
