C T Online Desk: The Hindu community will celebrate Mahalaya, the auspicious occasion heralding the advent of goddess Durga, today across the country.
Mahalaya marks the beginning of ‘Debi Pakshya’ with an invitation of sorts to goddess Durga to begin her journey from Kailash to her paternal home (the earth), along with her children. MohanagarSarbojanin Puja Committee has taken various programmes, marking the day.
The programmes include installation of Mahalaya Ghat and special puja (prayer) at the central mandap (puja pandel) at Dhakeshwary National Temple in the capital.
Similar programmes will also be arranged at other temples in Dhaka and elsewhere across the country.
