Call to lift weighing scale on Dhaka-Ctg highway

C T Online Desk: Traders have warned of a strict program after one month if the weighing scales installed at Sitakunda and Daudkandi on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway are not withdrawn.

This warning was uttered in the exchange meeting organized at the organization’s office by the initiative of Khatunganj Trade and Industries Association.

Mahbubul Alam, president of Chittagong Chamber and Khatunganj Trade and Industries Association, said in the discussion meeting that there is no weight scale on any other highway in the country except the Dhaka-Chittagong highway.

Due to this weight scale, traders of Chittagong are suffering from unequal competition. Especially the cost of transportation of goods has increased a lot. In various meetings of Chittagong Chamber, the issue of weight scale is kept as the first agenda every time. And there is no Minister-MP outside Chittagong and Chittagong who has not been told about this. Still there was no solution. Therefore, I will stand by the traders of Chittagong to withdraw

the weight scale from the highway.
