Road divider, retaining wall also cause water-logging in city: experts

C T Online Desk: Waterlogging occurs  lack of adequate drainage system in the area from Sholashahar to Bahaddarhat in the city. The entire area is submerged in light rain.

According to the victims, the road divider and retaining wall of the side canal is one of the reasons for the waterlogging.

On the other hand, because the water pipes from the flyover are narrow, there is also waterlogging. Experts have commented that if adequate drainage channels are made, the waterlogging caused by intermittent rains would have ended. The chashma khal along the road from gate number two to bahaddarhat has now turned into a big drain. Through this canal the water of the whole area falls into Karnaphuli. But since the canal was filled for a long time, the water drainage of the entire area was being disrupted. In this, the entire area is flooded with a little rain.

This canal has been dug under the mega project of Chittagong Development Authority to solve the waterlogging of Chittagong city. Thousands of tons of garbage have been cleared. Due to this, the condition of the canal is much better than before. However, the retaining wall of the canal is creating obstacles in the drainage of water, the locals said.
