C T Online Desk: The uncertainty of installing scanners at the gates of Chittagong port, which did not have container scanners until now, is disappearing. Recently Chittagong Port Authority took the initiative to purchase two container scanners with its own funding. The international tender was called on March 21 last. The port authority has completed that tender. 12 firms purchased tenders to participate in the tender to get the work but 5 firms submitted tenders.
The port authority will send a proposal to the ministry this week to select an organization from those 5 bidders and give final approval. The port authority said that only after the approval of the ministry, the collection of container scanners can be started next month.
The port authority had called an international tender on March 21 for the purchase of two scanner machines. There is an instruction to deliver that machine within 120 days. Already 10 companies have bought the tender. The security department of Chittagong Port held a pre-bid meeting with them on April 4.
