Progress of proposed Bay Terminal in Ctg Port visible

C T Online Desk: Approval has been given to appoint four German firms as international consulting firms for the ‘Bay-Terminal Construction’ project under implementation by the Chittagong Port Authority. These firms have been appointed for the construction of breakwater and access channel dredging and detailed engineering design under this project.

The total cost will be around 51 crore 30 lakh taka. The four German companies are Selhorn, WSP, KS and Aqua. According to the information of the concerned, tenders were invited for the appointment of international consultants in 2019. Initially, 23 companies participated in the tender. Later, the ‘Proposal Evaluation Committee’ formed by the Ministry prepared a short list of seven institutions from among these tenders through initial verification. These are – Germany jointly with four companies – Sellhorn, DWSP, KS and AQUA. Jointly NK and JPC of Japan. HR Wallingford Limited of UK. Idem of Spain. Ramble and DDC jointly in Denmark. Rina, SMCE and ACI jointly from Italy and Yushin, Dai and Bates jointly from Korea. Among these, the first three consulting firms participate in the selection process within the stipulated time. Germany’s four institutions jointly received the highest score in the technical assessment.For the implementation of the project, the consultancy firm will have to pay Tk 38 crore in Bangladeshi currency excluding tax and VAT. The total cost including tax and VAT will be around 51 crore 30 lakh taka.
