C T Online Desk: A mobile court fined Tk 2 lakh to a brick field for cutting soil from Halda river bed for brick kiln in Raozan, Chittagong. Upazila executive officer of Raozan Abdus Samad Shikder conducted the drive in Urkirchar union of the upazila on Thursday afternoon.
He said, in the morning, Shanti Brick, a brick kiln, was fined Tk 2 lakh for cutting soil from the Halda river in Urkirchar union and using it in a brick kiln. The brick kiln is run by Hiranmoy Barua and his six brothers.
They are managing the brick kiln on ancestral lines. Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Commissioner Riduanul Islam, Upazila Project Officer Niaz Morshed and members of police and Ansar forces were present during the operation.
