C T Online Desk: The previous 6 berth operators who are currently in charge have been re-appointed for handling container goods at Chittagong port. They are – M/s FQ Khan & Brothers Limited, Fazli Sons Limited, M/s Bashir Ahmed & Company Limited, M/s A & J Traders, Everest Port Services and MH Chowdhury Limited. With this, they have been working as berth operators of Chittagong port for the last 15 years.
The final appointment of these 6 berth operators was given on August 17 in the last ‘Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement’ meeting. Incidentally, on December 30, 2020, tenders were invited for the appointment of six berth operators for container and cargo handling at six terminals of General Cargo Berth (GCB) of Chittagong Port. The last day of submission of tenders and the day of opening of tender boxes was fixed on February 8, 2021. 14 tenders were submitted in six lots in the tender submitted in the ‘Single Stage to Envelope’ method.
