C T Online Desk: The Detective Branch of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) on Saturday arrested six people, including an accomplice, for their involvement in the gang rape of a woman on a moving bus.
The identities of the arrestees are yet to be known.
The woman and her husband boarded the bus of Taqwa Paribahan from Gazipur for Mymensingh at around 11pm on Friday, said Azizur Rahman, OC (Investigation) of Sreepur police station.
After the bus reached Chandona area, other passengers were dropped off at a bus stop, leaving the woman and her husband alone with the six accused.
The OC added that when the bus reached Mauna area, the woman’s husband was thrown off the bus at around 2am. He later went to the Sreepur police station for help.
The woman was later violated by five people on the bus and was thrown off near Rajendrapur area.
She walked to the nearby Joydebpur police station and informed them about the matter.
During the incident, the victim’s mobile phone, and money were snatched, reports UNB.
A similar incident took place just a few days ago in Tangail, causing concern among citizens and netizens.
The incident was reported on August 2, when a gang of robbers hijacked a bus and raped a passenger.
The 30-year-old rape survivor from Kushtia filed a case of rape and robbery at Madhupur police station on August 3.
Police, so far, arrested three people in this connection.
