C T Online Desk: Operations carried out in real life by the Rapid Action Battalion are more cinematic than “Operation Sundarban”, a movie centring on the elite force’s activities in the forest, Bangladesh Police chief Benazir Ahmed has said.
The inspector general of police (IGP) was speaking at the launch event of the trailer for the movie in Cox’s Bazar on Friday night.
The government announced the Sundarbans was bandit-free in 2018 following RAB’s operations in the forest at the directive of the prime minister, benefitting 2.5 million people in the area, Benazir said.
Hundreds of RAB officials had lost limbs or their lives in the line of duty, the IGP said. “They never held back thinking about their families or children. RAB’s operations are more cinematic and adventurous than the movie.”
RAB Director General Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun attended the event as special guest.
Dipankar Dipan directed “Operation Sundarban”, which stars Riaz, Siam Ahmed, Nusraat Faria, Raisul Ahmed Asad, Roshan, Darshana, among others. It was produced by RAB Welfare Cooperative Society Limited.
