Nearly 35km tailback on Dhaka-Chittagong highway

C T Online Desk: A nearly 35-kilometre tailback was reported on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway on Thursday.

Passengers on buses, ambulances and private cars suffered as the traffic jam started from the Comilla Cantonment area and extended till Chandina and Daudkandi’s Gauripur.

In the early hours of Thursday, a lorry upturned in Daudkandi’s Iliotganj area, blocking the two-way lane, Daudkandi Highway Police Sub Inspector Md Salauddin said.

Sabuj Choton, a Dhaka-bound student told Dhaka Tribune that he set out from Comilla at 9am and has been stuck in front of the cantonment ever since.

Iliotganj Highway Police outpost in-charge Premdhan Majumder says that the lorry has been removed and police was working to clear the tailback.
