C T Online Desk: Customs authorities have seized 12 gold bars, weighing around 1.4kg from a passenger at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram on Friday (July 22).
The arrestee is identified as Muhammad Mizan Uddin, resident of Fatikchari upazila of Chattogram.
Mizan Uddin came to Chattogram from Sharjah of the United Arab Emirates by a flight of Air Arabia. The flight landed at Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport at about 7:15am, an official said.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Customs Intelligence and National Security Intelligence (NSI) conducted a joint drive and arrested Mizan with the gold bars, he said.
The estimated market price of the seized gold is around Tk90 lakh.
A process is underway to file a criminal case against the detainee with the Patenga police station, he added.
