Power generation increases as water level rises in Kaptai Lake

C T Online Desk: Due to rains and landslides, the water in Kaptai Lake has increased. Due to the increase in water in the lake, the power generation at Kaptai Power Station has also increased. Sources from the control room of the Karnaphuli power plant said that due to rains and landslides in the last few days, the water level in Kaptai Lake has increased by more than 3 feet. According to the rule curve (measurement of water), Kaptai Lake is currently expected to have 88 feet  Sea Level (MSL) water on Sunday. But now the water in the lake is 91.40 feet MSL.

Karnaphuli Hydro Power Plant Manager Engineer ATM Abduzzah confirmed the fact of water rise in Kaptai Lake. He said currently 3 units are operational for power generation. Active units are units 2, 3 and 5. Currently, 120 MW of electricity is being produced from these three units. All of the electricity generated is fed into the national grid.
