C T Online Desk: Initiatives have been taken to build 15-storey state-of-the-art shopping malls, hotels, offices, cineplexes, convention centers, family recreation centers and apartments on the railway land in public-private partnership (PPP). Chittagong Epic Properties Limited has been given a lease of 0.452 acres of railway land near Falmondi adjacent to Chittagong Station Road for the implementation of this 40-year project. The construction cost of this project has been estimated at Tk 45 crore.
According to the terms of the contract, the work has to start within the next 9 months. The work of the project has to be completed within 4 years. Ahsan Jabir, Additional Chief Engineer (Bridges), Eastern Railway, said it would take six to eight months to start work with the approval of CDA-Environment and other departments.
An agreement was signed recently between Railways and private partner Epic Properties Limited for the construction of the project on the basis of public-private partnership. Additional Chief Engineer (Bridge) Ahsan Jabir of the Eastern Railway and Anwar Hossain, Director, Epic Properties Limited signed the agreement on behalf of the railway, railway east zone sources said.
