C T Online Desk: The body of former journalist Shohana Tuli was found inside her flat in the capital’s Hazaribagh area on Wednesday.
Hazaribagh police station OC Moktaruzzaman confirmed the matter to Bangla Tribune.
He said her death appeared to be a suicide, but added that the police would know for sure after autopsy.
Shohana Tuli, 38, hailing from the Battala area of Jessore Sadar upazila, had lived in Rayer Bazar of Hazaribagh since 2018.
On Wednesday morning, Nandita Tabassum, a friend of Shohana, could not reach her over phone. She later went to Shohana’s home, and after getting no response at the door she entered the house with security guards, only to find the body of Shohana hanging from a ceiling fan.
Shohana Tuli’s younger brother Mohaiminul Islam said: “I came to Dhaka from Jessore yesterday [Tuesday] and stayed at a friend’s house. The last time I talked to my sister was yesterday afternoon. I woke up on Wednesday morning and went to Khilkhet. At around 3pm, my father called and told me about the incident.”
Shohana Tuli graduated from the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism of Dhaka University. She worked at Amader Shomoy and Kaler Kantho newspapers. She worked at Bangla Tribune until 2020, before becoming an entrepreneur by opening an online shop.
