C T Online Desk: At least five people were killed as a bus hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway at Patia in Chattogram district on Monday evening.
Identities of the victims could not be known immediately.
Patia Crossing Highway police officer-in-charge Md Mozffar Hossain told New Age that seven more people were injured in the accident at about 8:15pm.
Mozffar said that four of the deceased are male and the remaining one is a female.
The police officer said that the bus was heading to Chattogram from Cox’s Bazar and hit the auto-rickshaw, leaving five passengers of the auto-rickshaw dead on the spot.
The bus also fell into a roadside ditch as the driver lost control over steering leaving at least seven passengers of the bus injured.
He said that the police and fire service rescuers recovered the bodies and rescued the injured ones.
The injured people were sent to hospital for treatment, he said.
