Ctg Evercare Hospital opens Cancer Survivor Forum

C T Online Desk: June was celebrated worldwide as Cancer Survivor Month. This year also the month is being celebrated in Bangladesh like other countries of the world. Evercare Hospital Chittagong has inaugurated a Cancer Survivor Forum to highlight the significance of the month of June and to raise awareness about the importance of ensuring early diagnosis.

According to  a   cancer database, there are currently about 1.7 million cancer patients in Bangladesh. Of these, 52 percent are male patients and 48 percent are female. About two lakh new patients are getting cancer every year. .

Of which 90-92 thousand patients have died. According to another study, the number of cancer cases in Chittagong has increased by about 36 percent in the last one year (2021-2022), with relatively young or middle-aged people being affected at an alarming rate. According to experts, inadequate awareness, timely diagnosis and lack of modern medical services are some of the reasons for the increase in infections and deaths.

Evercare Hospital Chittagong will work to increase the morale of cancer patients, proper treatment and make the general public aware of the early diagnosis and other issues through this Cancer Survivor Forum. Safia Gazi Rahman, Founder and Chairman of Sunshine Education and Member of Trustee and Managing Committee of IUB, CIU was the special guests  on the occasion.
