C T Online Desk: The ‘Parir Pahar’ of Chittagong detected some cracks . Cracks have also appeared in the border walls of the hill. The expert team said that the collapse may have been due to illegal installation. The office of the divisional and deputy commissioner is located on this hill under Kotwali police station. There are a total of 6 courts including the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court, District and Sessions Judge’s Court. At the foot of this hill are the Chittagong branch, sub-registry office of Bangladesh Bank and the office of Chittagong Development Authority.
According to district administration sources, in 1986, the then deputy commissioner leased 12.90 per cent land in the name of Chittagong District Bar Association from the khas khatian registered land No. 1 in Parir Pahar. Since then, the Chittagong Bar Association has illegally constructed 5 risky multi-storey buildings without heeding any rules and regulations. It is known that the fairy hill is collapsing due to these illegal installations. The recently collapsed section is behind the Advocate Clerk and Stamp Vendors Association. Besides, cracks have appeared in the boundary wall of Bangladesh Bank for this reason. Later Deputy Commissioner Mominur Rahman said 350 illegal structures will be evicted in phases.
