Muktijoddha Bhaban to be rebuilt, says DC

C T Online Desk: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Mominur Rahman visited the city’s abandoned Muktijoddha Bhaban (formerly Darul Fazal Market).

He visited the dilapidated building along with acting president of Mahanagar Awami League Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury, general secretary AJM Nasir Uddin, commander of Muktijoddha Sangsad Mozaffar Ahmed and freedom fighter AKM Sarwar Kamal Dulu among others. The deputy commissioner said the three-storey Muktijoddha Bhaban is very old.

During the rainy season, the roof leaks and water falls. There are Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Mahanagar-Zila Unit Command and Bangladesh Awami League Mahanagar party office as well as many business establishments below. These are now completely unusable. The Muktijoddha building could collapse at any moment. In 1972, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman first gave this building to the heroic freedom fighters.
