C T Online Desk: Two days of incessant rain has caused waterlogging in the city. General people are in trouble. On Saturday (June 18), low-lying areas of the city like Muradpur, Bahaddarhat, Sholashahar Gate No. 2, Katalganj, Agrabad, Halishahar , Bakalia areas were seen to be flooded. Due to lack of adequate vehicles, Every one had to travel by rickshaw or on foot to work.The lowlying areas and slums went under water and their kutcha house waterlogged and the house utensils washed away. The poors and distressed took shelter in upper places . Poultry farms and dairies suffering severely due to inundation of ground floors of their farms. The kitchen markets worstly affected with rain and tide water . The food and commodity warehouse in chaktai and khatungong badly affected with water .
The city dwellers are blaming the whimsy of the city’s service companies for this misery of waterlogging when it rains. Ripon Saha, a resident of Bahaddarhat area, told the media that waterlogging problem is not new. Canal excavation work has been going on for a long time. Not ending yet. The suffering of the city dwellers is increasing day by day. No one knows when this problem will be solved. Meanwhile, the Patenga Meteorological Office said that the monsoon rains would continue for two more days.
Assistant Meteorologist Sheikh Harunur Rashid said that there is a risk of heavy to very heavy rains with thunderstorms in some parts of Chittagong due to the active effect of monsoon winds. Moderate to heavy rainfall is likely to continue in different parts of Chittagong till June 20. Warning signal number 2 has been issued for river ports.
