Incessant rains caused hillslide : 5 killed, 11 hurt  including landslide in port city

C T Online Desk: Five persons were killed in separate accident in the port city . Among them 4  residents  were killed and 11 others  injured in a landslide in Akbar Shah and Foy’s Lake areas of the port city yesterday . Another one killed in electrocution in Halishahar area of the city .  The landslide  incident took place in Barisal Ghona under Akbar Shah police station around 3 am  yesterday (June 18)and in Vijay Nagar area of ​​Foy’s Lake around 4 am..

The deceased have been identified as Liton (24), Emon (14), Shahinur (32) and Mainur Akhter (20). Panchlaish Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Sadequr Rahman said five people injured in a landslide in Barisal Ghona area of ​​Lake No. 1 of Akbar Shah Police Station at night were brought to CMC Hospital. The on-duty doctor later declared two of them dead. The condition of the rest is also alarming.

Fire Service Leader Uching Marma said the landslide occurred in the Vijay Nagar area of ​​Lake City, Foy’s Lake, around 3 am Upon receiving the news, we went to the spot and rescued 6 people. Two died on the spot. Others have been admitted to different wards of Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

Besides,  an electrician  named Mohammad Mostafa (50) died after getting electrocuted while working on a power line near Bepza Medical of EPZ Police Station in the city. The accident happened on Friday (June 17) night. Panchlaish Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Sadequr Rahman said Mostafa was electrocuted while working on a power line next to BEPZA Medical. After rescuing him in this condition, he was brought to the One Stop Emergency Care of Chittagong Medical College Hospital at around 10.45 pm and was admitted to Ward No. 28 by the on-duty doctor. At the end of the examination, the doctor declared him dead. The body is in the morgue of the hospital.
