Over 1,000 Hajj pilgrims leaving for Saudi everyday

C T Online Desk: Around 1,067 Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims are leaving for Saudi Arabia on an average every day.

Since Hajj flights opened on June 5, as many as 5,606 pilgrims have left for the Middle-Eastern country, reports Bangla Tribune.

Among them 3,383 have gone under government arrangements and 6,223 have gone under private arrangements.

As many as 24 flights from Bangladesh reached Saudi Arabia between June 5 and June 13. Among them, 14 of the flights were operated by Biman Bangladesh, six by Saudi Airlines and four by Flynas Airlines.

According to sources 33.92% of the total visas issued were for Hajj pilgrims.

Hajj is going to be held on July 8 depending on moon sighting with participation of a million pilgrims from all across the world. Of them, 57,585 will be allowed to attend from Bangladesh.

Owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, no one has been able to perform the Hajj for the last two years.

This year, the Saudi government opened its doors to one million pilgrims. However, those above 65 of age will not be allowed to perform Hajj.

The last Hajj flight is expected to leave Dhaka on July 4. This year, 128 Hajj flights are being operated.

Bangladesh Biman will operate 75 flights, Saudi Airlines 51 and Flynas will operate 12 flights.
