BM  depot fire  under  control, container removal work  underway

C T Online Desk:  Even though the fire at BM container depot in Sitakunda came under control, smoke is still flying. Depot authorities have already started removing the containers. On Wednesday (June 8), the BM Depot was visited and the main gate of the depot was closed and the container was being removed. Although the coil of fire could not be seen, smoke was seen coming out of the rubble. Lieutenant Colonel Ariful Islam Himel of the 17th Brigade of the 24th Infantry Division of the Bangladesh Army said, “We have given priority to security.” So once everything is confirmed we start the removal work. I was able to control 70% of the fire within 24 hours. The fire is still under control but the smoke is still rising. Container removal work in progress. An army team is also investigating the blaze. The navy and fire service are assisting the army in this task. “After the fire was brought under control, we searched everywhere,” he said. No body was found.
