Bottled soybeans sold in drums, Tk 2.80  lakh fined in port city

C T Online Desk: A total of Tk,2.80 lakh fined to traders of the port in separate drive yesterday. National Consumer Rights Protection Department has fined the owner of Bismillah Store in Chhotapul area of ​​ port  city Tk 2 lakh for storing bottled soybean oil and selling it in drums. Chittagong Division Deputy Director of the Department Fayez Ullah conducted the drive on Thursday morning.
He said the Bismillah store was selling five-liter bottled oil  in drums at Tk 940 to Tk 980. Consumers protested when they tried to sell bottled oil at higher prices. That’s why they were being sold in open form from bottles. The price is getting higher, the weight is going to be mismatched. They admitted that they had taken about 500 liters of bottled oil and put it in a drum. Besides, one and a half thousand liters of soybean oil was found in two warehouses of the shop.

Meanwhile   Consumer Rights Protection Department, , has imposed a fine of Tk 80,000 on two shopkeepers for selling open soybeans at high prices in the Colonel Hat area. MS Jamal & Brothers were fined Tk 50,000 and  Binimoy  Store Tk 30,000 during the raid on Wednesday afternoon.

The campaign was led by the Deputy Director of the Chittagong Divisional Office of the Department of National Consumer Protection.
