C T Online Desk: A part of the beautifully built Patenga beach is being handed over to a private company. The Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) has called for tenders to release part of the beach to the private sector.
Therefore, questions have been raised about the CDA leasing process. However, the CDA says a small portion of the beach will be leased as a private zone after due process. The rest of the beach will be open to the public. And with the income of the small part, the whole beach will be kept aesthetic. This step has been taken to turn Patenga beach into a world class beach by protecting it from its current dilapidated condition. According to sources, a number of companies have participated in the tender called for privatizing Patenga Beach, one of the tourist centers of the city.
CDA will start tender evaluation and verification in the next two to four days. After that the tender process will be completed in the next few days. However, CDA does not own the land where the beach was built in Patenga. The CDA has only developed. The process of handing over the land to the CDA started a long time ago but it did not work out in the end.
