C T Online Desk: The overall number of Covid cases has surged past 516.5 million amid a rise in new infections in parts of the world.
According to Johns Hopkins University, the total case count mounted to 516,648,904 while the death toll from the virus reached 6,249,524, on Saturday morning.
The US has recorded 81,831,854 cases so far and 997,318 people have died from the virus in the country, the data shows.
India’s Covid-19 tally rose to 43,094,938 on Friday, with 3,545 new cases registered in 24 hours across the country, showed the federal health ministry’s latest data.
Of the new cases, 1,365 were reported from Delhi. Currently,, there are 5,756 active cases in the national capital.
Besides, as many as 27 deaths were reported across the country due to the pandemic since Thursday morning, taking the total death toll to 524,002.
Bangladesh reported 19 new Covid cases in 24 hours till Friday morning which pushed up its total caseload to 1,952,766.
With no new Covid deaths reported during this period, the country’s total fatalities from the pandemic remained unchanged at 29,127, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.
