C T Online Desk: After being closed for two consecutive years due to Corona’s outbreak, the fair is sitting again. The fair will run from Sunday to Tuesday. The wrestling game will be held on Monday. In the meantime, sellers have started bringing products from different parts of the country. The city dwellers have started getting the impression of Abdul Jabbar’s wrestling and Baishakhi fair which is known as a part of Bengali culture. Yesterday, Laldighi field was visited and sellers started coming from far and wide with various products. They have started stockpiling goods in the open space around Laldighi, including the KC Dey Road area. Among these, buying and selling is also going on in small scale.
Due to the ending hour of Ramadan, several new decisions have been taken to control the fair. In order to avoid traffic jam, it has been decided to keep one side of the road from Kotwali to Andarkilla open. There were doubts about the organization of the fair as the field was not available after being closed for two consecutive years due to Corona’s outbreak. However, in the end, with the intervention of the mayor, it was decided to organize a wrestling and Boishakhi fair by constructing a stage in the district council premises. As a result, he had doubts whether the fair would be held. However, after overcoming the uncertainty, the organizers think that the old mood will return to the wrestling and fair this time.
Councilor Jaharlal Hazari, chairman of the fair committee, said vendors have started coming since Friday. The whole area will be crowded by Saturday. He said that there was a lot of interest among the participants in the wrestling game, adding that more than 50 wrestlers had communicated on their mobile phones. Almost all of them have confirmed their participation in the wrestling.
