Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Administrator Dr Shahadat Hossain has directed officials to complete ongoing development work on Barrister Soltan Ahmed College Road in Ward No. 39 as soon as possible to reduce public suffering.

During an inspection of the road, he reviewed its condition and the drainage system and instructed officials to take prompt measures to ease residents’ inconvenience.

The administrator said heavy rainfall and ongoing canal excavation and development work had caused temporary waterlogging in several parts of the city. He also directed the Chattogram Development Authority to remove excavated soil from roads quickly and asked the electricity department to complete the installation of electric poles without delay.

He stressed the need for better coordination among relevant agencies to improve drainage and waste management, adding that additional cleaners would be deployed if necessary.

Urging shopkeepers to maintain cleanliness, he said every shop must have a dustbin and warned that those found dumping waste in front of their shops would face fines.

Dr Shahadat also called on residents to work alongside the city corporation to build a clean, green, safe and waterlogging-free city.

CCC Chief Conservancy Officer Captain Shamim Mohammad Khan, Chief Engineer Anisur Rahman and Executive Engineer Ashiqul Islam, among others, were present during the inspection.
