C T Online Desk: Sarwar Jahan Jewel Mymensingh: Mymensingh-7 (Trishal) constituency MP Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Liton has expressed his anger over the lease management of buses and CNG stands in Trishal Bazar, Mymensingh. He has announced that no buses and CNG stands in Trishal Bazar will be leased from next year.
MP Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Liton said, “We will not allow any of the buses and CNG stands in Trishal Bazar to be leased next year.”
He further said that in Trishal, around 12 to 15 lakh taka is collected annually from the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) office for lease of five to six buses and CNG stands. However, he commented that the lessees have created an extortion-like situation in the area by collecting this small amount of lease money.
According to the MP, leasing the stands is creating financial pressure on general transport workers, drivers and related persons. He said that to overcome this situation, the leasing of the stands will be stopped from next year.
The MP’s statement on the lease of Trishal Bazar buses and CNG stands has sparked a new discussion on the management of the local transport sector, lease collection, and methods of collecting money from drivers and workers.
However, if their statements are received regarding the allegations raised against the lessees, it is also necessary to highlight them in the report. In addition, it is important to know from the concerned authorities what the alternatives to the lease system will be and what the administration’s plans are for managing the stands and maintaining discipline.
