C T Online Desk: Sarwar Jahan Jewel, Mymensingh: MP Lutfullahel Majed Babu has alleged irregularities, nepotism and bribery in the appointment of fertilizer dealers in Mymensingh-8 (Ishwarganj) constituency.
In a Facebook post, the MP alleged that Taklima Akhter, who was ranked first in the list sent from the upazila in Sarisha Union, was replaced by Ziaur Rahman of Zia Enterprises, who was ranked second. The Deputy Commissioner changed the list and the UNO played a role behind the scenes.
The MP wrote, “I know who takes what percentage of money from where. Except for the dedicated leaders and activists, licenses are being given to controversial people in exchange for money.” He warned that he would not allow anyone he nominated to be appointed as a dealer until he received an answer.
Ishwarganj UNO Sanjida Rahman said that the second person complained that the first applicant did not have an income tax return. The matter was reported to the MP.
Deputy Commissioner Saifur Rahman said that the application of the person who was eliminated was incomplete. Nothing happened outside the policy. The appointed Ziaur Rahman claimed that he is a former Chhatra Dal leader and did not bribe anyone.
It is worth noting that on August 31, a notification was issued to recruit 156 dealers in 145 unions of the district. About 1,700 applications were received.
